1. How can I apply?

2. What are the judging criteria for the 50 Semi-finalists?

The judging criteria include:

  • Business Overview
  • Technology Highlight
  • Market Potential
  • Business Model
  • Revenue Model
  • One 2-minute pitching video

Please note that some of the questions in the application form represent the above judging criteria. It is important to fill up each question precisely and concisely.

3. Can I apply the competition if I am an overseas company/participant?

Yes. This competition is open to all tech startups from around the world who are

  • less than 10 years;
  • focuses on one of these categories: FinTech / PropTech & Construction Tech
  • accept the terms and conditions as set in the rules and regulations
4. Can I still apply the competition if I have already participated in similar competitions organised by HKSTP?

Yes. This competition is open to all tech startups from around the world who are

  • less than 10 years;
  • focuses on one of these categories: FinTech / PropTech & Construction Tech
  • accept the terms and conditions as set in the rules and regulations
5. Is there any financial assistance for overseas startups to travel to Hong Kong for the competition?

HKSTP will subsidise the overseas company ONE round trip economy ticket to Hong Kong and a 3-night stay at a designated hotel if you are being shortlisted in the 50 startup finalists.

6. When will I know whether I am being shortlisted as one of the Top 50 Semi-finalists?

Top 50 Semi-finalists will be announced in January 2023. Please also take note of the following important dates:

  • 30 November 2022: Application closes at HKT 23:59 (GMT +8)
  • 4 January 2023: Announcement of the Top 50 Semi-finalists
  • 24 February 2023: Grand Finale
7. What are the prizes/awards?
  • Up to US$ 5M investment opportunities for the Top 50 Semi-finalists
  • Top 10 Finalists: US$10,000 (each)
  • Favourite Pitcher: additional US$10,000
  • 2 Tech Winners*: additional US$20,000 (each)
  • Champion: additional US$60,000
8. Can my partner and myself pitch together and present in the 2-minute pitching video and at the Pitching Competition on 24 February if I am being selected as the top 10?

  • No. Only ONE representative from each company will pitch and present at the Grand Finale.

9. Can I pitch in any other language?

No. All the pitches and presentations should be in English.

10. Can I still apply if my company is not registered in my name in Hong Kong?

Yes. You can apply even if your company is not registered in your name. You can nominate any representative from your company to pitch in the 2-minute pitching video and present at the Grand Finale if you are being selected as one of the Top 10.
